Working at this school comes with major issues right from the very first week. It is [redacted], and the entire management style centers on extreme micromanagement. [redacted] The campus is heavily monitored by CCTV, and management will actually separate teachers if they see people chatting or getting along, even going as far as excluding certain staff members from school events. Expectations are way too high for first-year teachers. You are given zero curriculum or lesson plans beyond basic textbooks and a timeline, meaning teachers have to create everything from scratch, including making original level tests for elementary students. There are also zero Korean co-teachers to help out in the classroom. The daily workload is exhausting, requiring staff to take photos every single class and post daily updates and comments for parents on an app, on top of running PTA meetings.
Management frequently leaves during school hours for personal errands like getting their hair or nails done, but they show zero flexibility if a teacher needs a mandatory clinic visit or a banking appointment. They apply financial penalties for minor lateness and try to withhold 200,000 KRW from the final housing deposit for cleaning fees that are completely absent from the contract. There is a heavy blame culture where teachers are held personally responsible and treated incredibly harshly if a student drops from the school. Management also routinely picks on one specific teacher to make their life miserable. Plus, there are huge double standards, like internal family members at the academy not being held to the same homework rules as regular students. They act very nice at first, but if they get upset, the communication quickly becomes completely cold and demanding. Furthermore, if a teacher attempts to resign or dispute their way out before the contract ends, management will temporarily switch to accommodating behavior and false promises to convince them to stay, but the situation quickly escalates into severe friction and verbal conflict if you insist on leaving.
I don t know if this school still exists, but just in case it is .
This school says international, but it is not an international school. It is just like other english kindergarten in korea. Just like some s schools in korea, they prefer foreign foreigners as the teachers. If you are korean american or korean something, they would treat you differently than other teachers. [redacted]. The principal is a ****** kind of person, so if you are okay with those kinds I guess this school is okay. The ********************, so just be aware.
Workload - if you know the basic work of english kindergarten, then you know the gist of it. But there is no korean teacher. It is an english kindergarten but there is no korean teacher or assistant teacher to help you.
In conclusion, I think there are other places that are better to work at.
