Teachers are not happy at this school and the high turnover rate shows it. There were 5 midnight runs since I started. [redacted] Since there s no chance of a release letter, you have to go home and a penalty fee applies. Long work hours (10 hours) and not enough pay, between 2.4-2.5 million won. Teachers who worked for a year negotiated for up to 2.7 million won. Should be higher due to the workload. We had to work on some Saturday s to test for new students, which was unpaid. Although they state that teaching resources are given, teachers have to prepare additional lessons, projects and activities to supplement the curriculum. This takes a lot of time and is heavily scrutinised, therefore teachers have to add additional time to tailor lessons based on management s demands. If you don t enjoy being micro-managed and don t want your mental health to decline don t go to Knox in Anyang.
[redacted] I would just like to offer my two cents. Knox school is by NO means a good school to work for, and I (like many others) did not stay the entire year when I was there. [redacted] In any case, I would not recommend that place to my worst enemy and my advice is to avoid it.
I am posting this warning about Knox School located in Pyeongchon (near Beomgye station) even though I quit there seven years ago. The reason is because just recently I saw that it was on the 'Green' list and it was obviously posted by [redacted]. Knox is not a quality school as the post claims. It is 10 hours a day and the kids are in charge and they know it. I was there for a mere two months back in 2018 and I gave my written notice. Two months after that, I was out of there. My advice is to stay clear of it as it is not a good environment and the workload vs pay is not worth it. The best word I would use to describe that school is 'scary.'
It is difficult to find a good school. I have worked at several. Knox is by far the best.
People of many different ethnic backgrounds and genders work here. The administration welcomes anyone who is willing to do the job to the best of their abilities.
Teachers are helpful, guiding and mentoring new staff. There are professional development days for teachers to hone their skills and use their creativity to add to existing lesson plans.
The administration is approachable and willing to help.
Friendship among employees is encouraged. The owner occasionally pays for dinners for the entire staff in order to foster a positive work environment.
This is one of the few schools where people decide to continue to work for multiple years.
